Elaine M. Siniaho

Address: Payson, Arizona
What have you been doing since 1975?
Went to NAU, majored in
Microbiology and Chemistry. Graduated in '79. In 1980, did a Medical
Technologist internship at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Moved
home. Was looking for a job in Phoenix when I had the accident. I
was in 3 different hospitals for 13 months. In all that time, no one there figured out that
I was deaf. I mentioned the deafness to my niece, so I was already home. We moved to
Payson after Father retired in 1986. Vocational Rehabilitation started in
1988. Did computer input as a volunteer for the Dept. of Economic Security
. Did that from 1988 to 1991. Job at Payson Care Center form
91-95. Stayed volunteering for free use of equipment in house
Physical Therapy
Depart. Quit volunteering there. I did volunteer for awhile for
Alpha Omega Home Health. Now, receive Physical Therapy at the hospital. Really
quit going to devote time to me. I have a dream and most people say it's
not realistic. The dream is to walk unaided again.
Memories of MHS:
Our Senior year was the first year the
"Vandal War Cry" was printed. Good riddance to the mimeograph. I was also
Editor. I spent my free time, what there was of it, in the District Office, in Mrs. Stewart's,
or the Band room. When there were plays,
Thespian work. I'm more of behind the scenes kind of person, so the awards
assembly was quite a switch. People joked that it should have been
the Siniaho awards, because I was up and down so much. Took a lot of
underclassmen under my wing to show them the ropes, so they could take over.
FRIENDSHIPS really stand out.
