What I've been doing since 1975:
Wow! The past 30 years have just flown by so fast, it's
actually hard to recall everything that's happened. I know I wrote the events
for the first 10 yrs, then 20, but I'll try and update. I went to work for the
Gila County Court Clerk in June of 1975 and married Russ Fetterman in November,
1975. Nothing to eventful for the first 14 years, but then things got a little
complicated. Russ and I had a detour in our marriage and divorced in early 1989.
Russ had worked at Inspiration Mine for several years, but as we all know,
layoffs were always inevitable(a real blessing we decided years later) Russ got
hired by Southwest Gas Corp. in 1986 and worked as a meter reader in Phoenix and
then as a service technician in Oracle, Kearny and Tucson. He then relocated to
Victorville, California. We reconciled in late 1989 and I made the move to
California. It was hard to leave my job, family and friends, but my family was
priority and my motto was, "Home is Where the Heart Is" and my heart
was with Russ and Rusti. In April, 1990, I went to work for a law firm as as a
legal assistant and learned lots about California law (crazy as it is!) In
September, 1994, Russ was promoted and was offered a position as a Customer
Service Supervisor in Phoenix! That was great news and we were coming back to
AZ. Rusti graduated from high school in 1998 and then went on to Pima Medical
Institute and became a Phlebotomist. (She now works as a Medical
Technologist/Phlebotomist for a Phoenix Pediatrician). I went to work as a legal
asst/paralegal for the law firm Jennings, Haug & Cunningham in October of
'94. In 2001, Russ was again promoted to Field Service Supervisor, which would
take us to Carson City, Nevada. With every promotion came a relocation. That was
fine as Rusti was now on her own and living in Phoenix. I went to work again as
a legal assistant for the law firm of Allison, Mackenzie, Russell, Pavlakis,
Wright and Fagan, Ltd. I worked for Senior Partner Todd Russell and enjoyed
living in the Sierra Mountains. Lake Tahoe was 30 minutes one way and Reno was
35 minutes the other way. We stayed in Carson City for 3 years, after which Russ
was again promoted. This time his promotion would take us to our current
domicile, Elko, Nevada. Russ is the District Manager for the Elko District,
Northern Nevada Division. We have been in Elko since April of 2004. Funny how
our life brought us full circle. Although, not living back in Globe, Elko is a
small mining (gold) town and I went to work for the District Court Judge Michael
Memeo as a court recorder and judicial assistant. Nothing like small town
living. Elko offers hiking in Lamoille Canyon, fishing, hunting and whatever
other outdoor activity you want to do. I feel truly blessed to be where I am in
my life and very content. Our daughter blessed us with two beautiful and healthy
grandchildren -- and we have major stock in Southwest Airlines! My motto still
remains "Home is Where the Heart Is." We have been able to travel
abroad to places like China, Jamaica, London, England, Germany. We have gone to
Oregon, Washington DC, New York City, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont,
Florida, Massachusetts, Texas, California and New Mexico. God is good and has
blessed me abundantly in every step of my life. I have a wonderful husband who
has brought me much joy, a great daughter, and the light of my life are my
grandkids. Being a grandparent is the best title anyone could ever have. Life
for the past 30 years has brought good times, bad times, some sad times, and, of
course, lots of changes. Change, I've discovered is good. I've met so many
wonderful people in my travels, but none more important than growing up in Miami
and my experiences at MHS. We visit the Globe-Miami area a few times a year as
my Dad still lives in Miami. I maintain friendships with my best friend,
Rosemary Horlacher and talk to Annie Moreno Escobedo when I can. On occasion,
I've run into friends, Lucy Casillas, Eddie Valenzuela, Margaret Gonzales, Vicki
Diaz Alcaraz, Gail Coppa Dalmacio, Janice Everett Kidd. I've had email contact
with Larry Hawkins and Flavia Munoz Clark (a friend since the first day of
school in year ???) Only wish I would have stayed in better contact with Tenchie
Noriega, Anna Garcia, Loretta Alvarado, Shelly Vuksanovich and a few others.
Funny how you would always hear your parents say, "the older you get, the
faster time goes by" and how true is that. Maturity has taught me that life
is too short, and never take one moment for granted. We have all seen that by
the classmates that have been taken from us much too early. I certainly look
forward to seeing all of you at the reunion. Many thanks to the Committee who
made this all possible. You guys have done an outstanding job in keeping the
class of 1975 not just a memory, but a chance to rekindle friendships, make new
friendships and just an overall opportunity to get together. Larry, thank you
for the awesome website! Take care, God bless and see you all in September!
Memories of MHS:
I will always be indebted to Mrs. Eastlick who gave me my
first job opportunity by recommending me to the Clerk of the Court, Fuzzy Ambos.
That experience would be invaluable to me to this day. Typing teacher, Mrs.
Cheryl Pickerd (Ms. Lee), was a real inspiration to me. I admired her poised and
sweet nature. She taught me more than how to type fast, but how to be an
individual and be true to yourself. I will never forget these two ladies and
thank them from the bottom of my heart. Mr. Stewart, Mr. Versaeval and Mr.
Farester were the greatest, considering Math and Science were not my best
subjects, and I thank them for making high school fun and interesting. And, of
course, who can forget Mrs. Ledbetter! She was the ultimate teacher! Crushes
will remain unnamed and unidentified, although, there were many!
